Garuda Serve More Capacity for Lebaran Holidays

(8/29/2009) Garuda Indonesia will add 42,226 seats to its scheduled services operating September 16 – 28, 2009, to meet an expected surge in demand over the Islamic Lebaran holidays. The extra seats will be create by adding extra flights or increasing the size of aircraft used on an existing 17 domestic and 7 international routes.

Quoted in BisnisBali, Pujobroto, the Head of Communications for Garuda, said, “for other routes, we think (capacity) can still be served with regular Garuda flights.”

Additional seats will be put into service on the following routes during the peak Lebaran period of September 16-28, 2009:

• Jakarta – Denpasar (Bali) 16,448 seats.

• Jakarta – Padang (Sumatra) 1,872 seats

• Jakarta- Yogyakarta (Java) 2,568 seats

• Surabaya – Denpasar (Bali) 8,510 seats

• Jakarta – Singapore 8,510 seats

• Jakarta – Makassar (Sulawesi) 1,584 seats

• Jakarta – Semarang (Java) 336 seats

• Jakarta – Solo (Java) 664 seats

• Denpasar (Bali) – Yogyakartra (Java) 220 seats

• Denpasar (Bali) – Surabaya (Java) 88 seats

• Jakarta – Medan (Sumatra) 176 seats

• Jakarta – Potianak (Kalimantan) 112 seats

• Jakarta – Bangkok (Thailand) 380 seats

• Jakarta – Hong Kong 3,360 seats

• Surabaya (Java) – Hong Kong 264 seats

• Jakarta – Canton 548 seats

• Jakarta – Kuala Lumpur 1,020 seats

• Denpasar (Bali) – Singapore 132 seats

Garuda is seeking the public’s assistance over the coming holiday period, asking intending travelers to book their flights as soon as possible; booking flights in the exact same name shown on passports or identity cards; and to provide a working contact telephone number at the time of booking.

Check in counters for all flights will open two hours before the scheduled departure time and close one hour before for international flights and 45 minutes before for domestic flights.

Special “Kiosk” check-in counters will also be in operation at major airports for passengers checking in without luggage.
